MT ETNA (Half Day)

Meeting with our driver in Hotel and drive up the Etna South road through a continuously changing landscape of trees, lava flows and endemic plants. Passing through the charming little villages of Santa Venerina and Zafferana Etnea, reach Rifugio Sapienza at a height of 2000 metres. Mount Etna is the highest active volcano in Europe. Upon arrival, visit the area of Crateri Silvestri (about 2,00 mtrs or 6.000 ft) and see the effects of recent eruptions. Time at leisure. From Rifugio Sapienza you can join an organized excursion (over two hours) to the top. The more adventurous can further take a 4X4 drive to reach the summit at 2,900 meters where Alpine guides escort people on foot to interesting areas. Back to your Hotel in Catania.

We suggest to book a local guide HD (max 2 hours) for the visit of Piazza Armerina and also in Agrigento (to meet on the spot). You can also book a FD (max 8 hours) local guide for the whole day Segesta/Erice/Selinunte” or a HD (max 4 hours) local guide for the visit of Cefalù.
Important: a English Speaking Driver is a chauffeur specialized to drive you around Sicily. He is able to provide basic historical information and show you the main highlights. However, our English Speaking driver is not a Licensed Tourist Guide (Licensed Tourist Guide: are the only professionals -- with a Regional license -- permitted to conduct visits and tours in all sites and museums within a city) and he cannot escort you inside the monuments because this is not allowed by Italian Rules.
On request, you can hire a Licensed Tourist Guide, paying the supplement to have this extra service and generally meet your local guide on the spot to visit Churches, Museums and/or Archaeological Sites
