The Azoris Faial Hotel has the perfect concept for those looking to spend their holidays in pure rest and tranquility. With a stunning view over the Atlantic and a privileged setting on the Pico mountain, the admirable four-star offers comfort and well-being to receive the best of its guests.
Located in the city of Horta, Faial Island, it comprises a total of 131 rooms, spread over 2 junior suites, 4 senior suites, 26 executive rooms and 99 standard rooms. There is also an indoor and outdoor swimming pool, Jacuzzi, sauna, Turkish bath, gym, volleyball and tennis courts.
It also offers rooms for meetings, seminars, conferences, congresses or other events with all the equipment and comfort you desire.
The island of Faial has a roughly pentagonal outline of about 173 km 2. It is the third most inhabited island of the archipelago, with 14 994 residents (data of 2011). The island of Faial is part of the Central Group and is the westernmost point of the so-called “islands of the triangle”.
It is presumed that the Portuguese discovery of the island will have occurred after the mapping of Terceira Island. Your name will have been inspired by the abundance of beech found. The Horta Marina, inaugurated in 1986, is one of the most famous harbor ports in the world. With the creation of the autonomous model, the city of Horta became the seat of the Regional Parliament of the Azores and followed the regional economic changes, developing the tertiary sector, to the detriment of the others.
The association between the island of Faial and the sea remains strong. Horta is an important center for whale watching , swimming with dolphins, diving exits and boat trips. It is possible to cross the channels between the islands in well preserved whalers or in kayaks rented. Sailing, windsurfing, rowing and surfing are other water activities that find good conditions in different parts of the island.
In August, the blue of the sea dominates the festivities. On the 1st, to commemorate the Feast of Senhora da Guia, a procession of boats escort the image of the Virgin from the sand of Porto Pim to the port of Horta. The animation continues with Semana do Mar. Initially dedicated to yachtsmen, this week of celebration is now shared by Faialenses and visitors.
The octopus stew with wine, common to many islands of the archipelago, is one of the most typical dishes of Faial. At the table, the maritime importance spreads to the fish stock and the stew. Bread and corn cake are preferred side dishes. Meats, sausages and sausages serve as a snack or as a meal, when served with yams. In the sweets, the Fofas do Faial are typical.
