Visit the Prehistoric Museum and Archeological Site Akrotiri and 1 Village
The prehistoric museum of Fira takes you back in time and sketches the course of the prehistoric Thera, through selected finds from various excavations, dating back to Neolithic, Minoan and Hellenistic periods onwards. You may also choose to visit the prehistoric settlement of Akrotiri that is one of the most important archaeological sites in the world. A city that has remained alive for 3.500 years beneath the lava, tells its story to today’s visitors.
A visit to Akrotiri is the best way to witness the unique connection of the island of Santorini with the volcano. The multi- floored public buildings, drainage facilities, stables, food stores, workshops of all sorts of art, textiles, metallurgy, shipbuilding and other specialties are standing all over the site. From the village descriptions given above choose two villages you would most prefer to visit. Alternatively you may visit either the Museum or Akrotiri and then visit 2 traditional villages
